Part of the Trauma-Informed Approaches Certification

Staying Curious: Culture, Identity, and Humble Engagement

Building strong, respectful relationships is central to effective housing and human services work.
This live, interactive training focuses on how culture, identity, and personal experiences influence everyday interactions with clients and tenants—and how unexamined assumptions can unintentionally disrupt trust.

Participants will explore how assumptions commonly show up around motivation, compliance, communication, and perceived entitlement, especially in high‑pressure systems. Using a trauma‑informed lens, the session emphasizes cultural humility, self‑reflection, and practical communication strategies that help staff slow down reactions, check assumptions, and respond with curiosity and clarity.
