Understanding the widespread impact of trauma at the individual, community, and systems levels can better prepare affordable and supportive housing property management professionals to provide quality housing and minimize the potential for re-traumatization.

This training focuses on how property management professionals can apply a trauma-informed approach to improve job performance and outcomes in buildings they manage.

THREE-DAY IN-PERSON COURSE
A Competency-Based Certification Program

Many individuals who have experienced homelessness face significant challenges, including mental health and substance use concerns. This course is designed to help property managers understand the broader impacts of these challenges. Each session will provide participants with practical skills such as effective communication techniques, strategies for conflict resolution, and approaches to building trust and rapport with tenants. By the end of the course, participants will be equipped to better address the unique and complex needs of tenants while fostering environments that promote dignity, respect, and overall well-being.

This certification includes 3 days of training. Participants who complete the training and pass a skills review afterward will receive a professional certificate in Trauma-Informed Approaches for Property Management Professionals.

Trauma and Trauma-Informed Approaches

Understanding the experience, effect, and impact of trauma on individuals is key to developing trauma-informed practices.

Relationships with Tenants

Trust, transparency, and a sense of safety are all hallmarks of trauma-informed approaches. Learn how to lead with empathy and understanding, and use active listening skills to solve problems and address the needs of tenants.

Coordinating with Service Providers

Establish more effective working relationships with service providers and create a collaborative approach to support the needs of tenants.

Trauma-Informed Policies and Practices

From signing a lease to communicating lease violations, certain processes can be daunting and intimidating for tenants. Evaluate policies and practices to improve communication with tenants, achieve better outcomes, and minimize potential conflicts.

Critical Times and Eviction Prevention

Explore strategies to navigate critical times and lease violations, with the ultimate goal of cultivating housing stability and preventing evictions.

Nurturing Wellness and Overcoming Burnout

Recognize when burnout is impacting work and reduce burnout with retention strategies and by promoting workplace wellness.

The training location can be reached via car, there is free and ample parking.

If you will be coming from outside the Denver Metro area. There are several hotels located on Colorado Blvd, a few miles from the venue. 

We will provide coffee/tea/water during morning and a lunch. Please note we may not be able to make all dietary accommodations please plan accordingly. Reach out to us if you have questions.  

This training will be interactive. You can expect to work in small groups and pairs. You will be encouraged to participate in activities to reinforce your learning. Please come prepared to participate. 

We are an accredited training provider. As such we are able to provide continuing education units. If you like to receive credit and/or would like to receive a certificate for completing the course-- you will need to complete the skills review online after the training. This can be done at your own pace within 30 days of the training finish.
