Level: Introductory
Supportive housing staff lead busy lives and cannot always make the time for in-person trainings, so our curriculum is designed to be entirely self-paced and completed at the convenience of participants. The individual modules in the series are:
Supportive Housing 101 - This module provides an overview of supportive housing and introduces participants to key concepts and terms.
Housing First and Harm Reduction - This module provides an overview of Housing First and harm reduction principles as well as activities and case study examples that demonstrate why Housing First is an essential aspect of supportive housing.
Homeless Systems and Coordinated Entry The module explores homelessness and homeless systems of care.
Property Management & Services Coordination - This module highlights shared goals and key areas of coordination among staff and a case study example of how property management and supportive services can work together to keep tenants housed.
Trauma-Informed Approaches to Supportive Housing - This module covers the definition of trauma and strategies for providing services and creating a housing environment that are trauma-informed.
Reasonable Accommodations for Tenants in Supportive Housing - This module covers the basics of reasonable accommodation laws and how they are applied to supportive housing.
Home Visits- This module explores best practices for conducting visits to tenants homes and how to provide support to tenants, in addition to how to ensure safety during visits.
Role of the Case Manager- This module explores the role of the case manager in supporting tenants to retain and maintain housing.
